5 years celebrating black businesses and excellence
For the past four years, PCI Media and Company has hosted an annual award show highlighting and celebrating hundreds of Black-owned businesses and individuals who have made a unique impact in the community.
The Black Owned Business and Excellence (BOBE) Awards were created during the pandemic and the Breonna Taylor protests—a time when there was little hope surrounding civil rights and discrimination in the Black community. During this period, a multitude of Black-owned businesses emerged, adding to an already sizable and often overlooked number of existing businesses.
With over 40 award categories, highlighted industries include: Venue; Event Planner/Promoter; Restaurant; Beverage; Catering; Tattoo; Community Organization; Healthcare; Decorator; Barbershop; Barber; Hair Salon; Hair Stylist; Nail Tech; Beauty Product; Media/Production; Photographer/Videographer; Author; Entertainer; Makeup Artist; Science/Technology; Finance; Law; Dance/Gymnastics; Health & Fitness; Educator; Clothing Brand; Clothing/Accessory Store; Marketing/PR; Graphic Design; Visual Art; Self-Care; Real Estate; Commercial/Industrial; Political Influence; Influencer; Youth-Owned (17 & under); Legacy; Gamechanger; New Business; and Black-Owned Business of the Year.
This year marks the fifth anniversary of the BOBE Awards. Nominations will remain open until January 31. The award show will take place in the Russell neighborhood once again, at a new location inside Louisville Central Community Center (LCCC), located at 1300 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd., on Saturday, March 14.
Doors will open at 5:30 PM, with the red carpet running from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, and the show beginning promptly at 7:00 PM. Tickets are now available at www.bobeawards.com, with early bird pricing starting at $20 for General Admission (regular price $50), $50 for VIP (regular price $75), and vendor booths available for $75 (regular price $150).
